Our Story

Our founder, Zhongya Liu (Angela) began her journey of teaching Chinese after helping foreign teachers by guiding them through the local life of China during her college years. Her passion for intercultural communication motivated her to pursue a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Beijing Language and Culture University.

To gain a deeper understanding of the American educational system and teaching methods, she took courses at George Mason University and earned a second graduate degree in World Language Education. She began her Chinese language teaching career at George Mason University in 2018 and has been teaching at Georgetown University since 2021.

Becoming a mother in 2020 deepened her understanding and interest in children education and bilingual education. She discovered that the key to learning a language lies in regular interaction with native speakers and using the language to study various subjects.

Inspired by this insight, she decided to establish tutoring classes, creating a stable learning community for learners of all ages to master Chinese. She founded MAP Chinese Language Center with the Hope of making learning Chinese enjoyable and fulfilling for each student through effective and interactive teaching methods.
