Kids Mandarin Immersion 3+
We offer a rich, immersive environment where Mandarin is woven into the very fabric of daily life. Within our community, children converse with both teachers and peers entirely in Mandarin, ensuring the language becomes second nature. Our curriculum is brought to life through a vibrant suite of creative pursuits, from the grace of calligraphy and painting to singing, literary exploration, and the Pinyin.
Adult Learning
From Business Mandarin to personalized Test Prep, we bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Our tailored learning plans cater to every stage of the journey whether you’re a curious beginner or an advanced adult learner mastering the art of conversation.
Summer/Winter Immersion Program
Designed for children ages 5 and up, our program blends language learning with engaging, hands-on activities like music, art, games, storytelling, and speech. In our small, supportive classes, experienced teachers create a warm environment where kids can confidently explore Chinese language and culture while building creativity and communication skills.
About Us
At MAP (Motivation, Acquisition, Proficiency) Chinese Language Center, we turn “little to no exposure” into “confident conversation.” Serving Northern Virginia since 2020, our programs help children naturally pick up Mandarin. Whether it’s through our in-person lessons, homeschool programs, or online classes, we provide a joyful, hands-on environment where each child can thrive.
From total beginner to seasoned speaker, we offer a full range of immersive Chinese courses for adults. Choose between private 1-on-1 tutoring or collaborative group classes led by our expert teaching team.
Our Story
Our Founder’s Story
Angela Zhongya Liu began her teaching journey during her college years, driven by a deep passion for intercultural communication. This calling led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from the prestigious Beijing Language and Culture University, a world-renowned institution for language education.
To bridge her expertise with Western pedagogy, Angela earned a second Master’s degree in World Language Education from George Mason University. Since 2018, she has shared her expertise with students at George Mason, Georgetown University, and Johns Hopkins University.
A Personal Evolution
Becoming a mother in 2020 transformed Angela’s perspective on language acquisition. Observing her own child, she realized that true fluency isn’t found in a textbook. It is built through daily, meaningful interaction with native speakers. This insight inspired her to move beyond traditional classroom settings and establish our unique immersive courses. These programs create a fun, nurturing community where learners acquire Chinese naturally through immersive and interactive experiences.
